Most of these paranormal stories are set in modern times, but they can also take place in the past or future. The protagonist in these stories is often a hero or heroine with supernatural powers. The story will typically involve an interesting romance subplot with a mystery as the center of the plot. Paranormal romance is another sub-genre that’s related to paranormal fiction. Charlayne Elizabeth Denney is a wife, mom, grandmother of 9, pack mom of two Shetland Sheepdogs and has a large cat who thinks she’s a Sheltie. Having degrees in History and English, she worked as a technical writer in 2000-2006, after which she found she had an autoimmune disease and had to quit. Between the real-life crazies, she got bored enough to start contemplating what to write. Since she decided she had a habit of checking people for fangs and living in the dark, she discovered her own vampires, Lilly, Marcus, and Sullivan. The little paranormal romance morphed into the Fangs & Halos series as each character had to weigh in on the storyline. Especially Baron, the vampire cat.

Lilly’s Angel was nominated for the Reviewer’s Choice Award in the Vampire/Werewolf category by the reviewers at Paranormal Romance Guild and was awarded an Honorable Mention for having a first ever book nominated for the awards.

When not hanging with vampires, she inhabits World of Warcraft as a gnome mage named Rubyrose. If you see her at a convention, she’s the crazy lady in the wheelchair with the Werepup. She has been doing science fiction conventions in Texas since 1979 and she actually found her husband, Bruce, through a want-ad in the program book for ConTroll 93,
