Hi folks,
So, you think I gave up on this whole blog thing? Well, no, but I’ve been busy. Between holidays, new puppy (and that training), and doc appointments, I’ve been busy.
But I never forget about you guys. If nothing else, Baron keeps twitching his tail and saying, “So, when are you going to talk about me again?”
And yes, he hates this picture, he says it’s not dignified.
Book 5 is coming along, I’ve got a meeting with Isobel and Marcus coming up—aftermath of that last chapter in Book 4, Archangel’s Gambit. If you’ve read the book (and you should, you know), you know what a mess has developed. That has been the problem all along—how to handle that aftermath and who is going to do what and where and who is involved.
Did you ever wonder how an author balances things in a book? Well, I have pages and reams of notes with everything in them—5 five subject notebooks, full. Tabbed so I can find things. So, I keep writing and things crop up like “who are the angels working that scene in Houston and how do they fit into the story?” So, back to research for names, assigning to departments, physical descriptions, and short bio (is there anything unique about them, what it is, and why?”
So, I’m working on it, and it’s coming along.
Personal stuff: I am working with a doc about the pain levels. I have Fibromyalgia and that has been a constant problem for years now. But this guy has me on some meds that are seeming to help, we’ll see when it finally stabilizes. But that’s taking time to fill out forms (15 pages for this guy even before I met him) and then to live with the effects as it gets into my system. Okay, yah, that’s TMI. But I want to keep you informed on progress on the book so this is a huge consideration for me. I have trouble some days even thinking so writing is out.
Baby Sullivan is growing like a weed. He’s about six pounds, growing into that stage where he’s all legs and feet. He can jump like a crazy dog, maybe he would be good at agility? He’s too young to let him try before his growth plates are finished.
Oh, and he barks. A really sharp, high pitched voice right now. You can’t ignore him, it even comes through ear plugs. Such a toddler, like when my kids found their voice and went around screaming all the time. His sister, Isis, is teaching him the way to act, which is good.
He’s also teething. Those milk teeth he has right now are SHARP and when he tries chewing on me, it hurts. We’ve bought bones, chewies, treats, and all sorts of toys. But he likes the hem of my dress, my toes, fingers, and my cane. He loves trying to carry it off.
And, it’s the holidays. Everyone is busy shopping, cleaning house and such. We didn’t go to the kids’ house this year, we planned on going out to dinner but neither of us was feeling like it so we are left-over pizza and just had a day to play World of Warcraft and sleep.
Now it’s Christmas season and things are getting busier. I’m working on a short story about how Christmas happens in the Fangs & Halos series. I’ve got a few stories like that and I will be getting those into an anthology sometime either the end of this year or sometime in 2021.
Just to give you a small treat, here is a tiny excerpt from Book 5—Worlds Collide. Try guessing who they are talking about.
“You don’t mean that.” Jesse said.
“I don’t? Watch me. I’ll have his name out of the lineage by noon,” he looked at his watch, “Today. That’s seven hours from now, plenty of time to vacate his name from the paperwork and send it on to the Council. The bastard will be unable to claim my seat, I’ll see to it.”
Robert shook his head, “You realize that this is not a good time to make decisions such as that, right? You’re grieving, and you’re angry at the attack, which I don’t blame you one bit. Don’t be making decisions like this in the heat of crisis. You will come to regret it.”
Now, I’m going back to harassing Baron and trying to find Sully (both the character and the dog…) I’ll write sooner than just a couple of weeks.
Oh, and what was the stand in for Lancaster’s Industries building above? Nakatomi Plaza (Fox Plaza in Century City Ca) in the movie Die Hard. And yes, that IS a Christmas movie and you should see it. Really.
