Marcus Lancaster is a wealthy, jet-setting high society, ostentatious vampire whose existence is about to change dramatically. His pretentious lifestyle is being overwhelmed by hurricane disruptions, command appearances before the Vampire Council, human rivals, and … a woman.
Lilly Marchantel, Marcus’s progeny and lover, is finding adjustment to the 21st century a challenge. Her personal discomfort is compounded by the unrelenting hostility that surrounds her. Marcus and Jesse have arguments even more than a lover’s spat, Isobel and Marcus clash, and there’s even animosity between vampire cat Baron, Lilly’s longtime confidant, and Lancelot, Marcus’ pampered prize winning Sheltie.
These irritations distract from the turmoil Marcus has. He has long chaffed under the dictates of others, the vampires, humans, and especially the angels for far too long. He intends to remedy it with a coup d’état against the angels who drag all vampires to Hell eventually.
